Death toll in Kerala due to Cyclone Ockhi rises to 19

Thiruvananthapuram,Dec 4:-- The death toll in rain-related incidents in Kerala has risen to 19 with the recovery of six more bodies. Officials said, eleven of the dead are from the coastal areas of Thiruvananthapuram.

 

690 fishermen stranded at sea off Kerala coast have been rescued in combined operations carried out by the Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force. Officials said, 96 fishermen are still missing.

 

A total of 6,581 persons have been shifted to various relief camps in the state.

 

The very severe cyclonic storm Ockhi lay centred over east central and south east central Arabian Sea.

 

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will arrive in Thiruvanthapuram and visit the cyclone affected areas of Kerala on Monday.
