Festival of Raksha Bandhan being celebrated in country today

New Delhi,Aug 7:-- The festival of Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated in the country today. It is observed on the full moon day of the traditional Indian luni-solar calendar month of Shravana to remember the love and duty between brothers and sisters.


On the occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President Hamid Ansari have conveyed their greetings to the citizens.The President said, this unique festival celebrates the sacred bond of commitment between sisters and brothers. Mr. Kovind said, the day is an occasion for all of us to renew the spirit of fraternity among the citizens of India.

President Ram Nath Kovind today celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Children and women tied rakhis on hands of the President. On the occasion, Mr. Kovind offered gifts to the children.



Children also tied Rakhi on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wrist on the occasion.

The Vice president greeting the people said this festival reaffirms the strong bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters in the society. He said, it upholds the high place traditionally accorded to women in Indian society. Mr Ansari appealed to rededicate to upholding the dignity and respect of women in the country.

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in the country as well as in other places of the world also. Symbolizing their love, sisters will today tie the sacred thread on their brother's wrist with a prayer for his prosperity and happiness. On other hand the brother provides her a token gift and a promise to protect her.
