Gujarat polls: PM addresses election rally in Dhanduka

Gandhinagar,Dec 6:-- In Gujarat, electioneering for assembly polls resumed at hefty pitch today after a day's halt due to bad weather yesterday, as only two days are now left for the campaigning to end for the first phase of polling.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Dhandhuka today. He said BJP government in Gujarat has succeeded in tackling corruption in the state.

Mr Modi said BJP has completely put an end to the corruption that was taking place in the name of tankers.

He also said BJP's efforts ensured that youth got access to technology and there are more educational institutions to study. He stated that law and order situation has improved tremendously under the BJP governments over the last two decades.

Recalling the great work done by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mr Modi said he paid tributes to him in Parliament this morning, before coming to Gujarat.

He alluded to the Gandhi family, saying it has done great injustice to Dr Ambedkar.

Mr Modi will also address public meetings in Dahod and Netrang today. His rally in Surat has been rescheduled for tomorrow due to bad weather.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani organised a road show at his home constituency in Rajkot this morning.

Other BJP star campaigners including party president Amit Shah, Union Ministers Smriti Irani, Uma Bharti, Parsottam Rupala and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are also canvassing for votes today.

Congress said BJP has not been able to fulfil the poll promises made in 2012 Gujarat assembly elections.

Briefing media in Ahmedabad this afternoon, party leader Anand Sharma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not want to touch upon these issues and hence keeps bringing up Rahul Gandhi in his public rallies. Mr Sharma said BJP is not fighting these elections on the basis of development because they have failed on that front.

The Congress leader said accusations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that party was unfair to Dr B R Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel are completely baseless.

Meanwhile, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s rallies scheduled in Narmada, Dang and Tapi districts for today have been cancelled.
