Lasith Malinga gets suspended ban for remarks against minister

Colombo, June 28:-- In a major development, Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who had led the side to T20 World Cup victory,  was fined and handed a suspended ban by Sri Lanka Cricket.


The move was made after Malinga's response to country's sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara’s stinging assessment on Sri Lanka's early exit from Champions Trophy.


The cricketer had reportedly compared the minister to a 'monkey'.
